Hadrian’s Wall

Well almost Hadrian’s Wall. We started in Guernsey at 9:30pm Friday waiting to catch the ferry to Portsmouth leaving at 10:45. We arrived in Gilsland at 5:30pm Saturday
The almost 18 hours consisted of a short ride onto the ferry in a 9 seat van. (And off again) No walking on for passengers! Then 7 hours trying to sleep on the ferry Norm on a recliner chair and me on the floor with only a pillow. And we were cold. Next time - take a blanket or reserve a real bed. Taxi from ferry terminal to the train station. Too far to walk at 6:30 in the morning.  Next a train ride to London, Waterloo station. Now the Tube to get to Kings Cross station to catch anothe train to Newcastle.

Kings Cross train station, classy design.

Once in Newcastle we found the bus station and caught a bus to Greenhead - 1 3/4 hour trip. The bus driver let us out and said follow the road. And finally to reach our BnB we had to walk 2 1/4 miles.
Checking to see we are heading the right way.

With our packs on!

Beautiful country side.

And finally ......

For all of this effort we went to the pub and had a hearty meal with sticky toffee pudding for dessert.
