Once last chance to see Hadrian’s Wall. An early morning walk along the foot path.
We headed to another Roman fort.
This is the close up. We never did visit the fort.
But here the longest stretch of Hadrian’s Wall can be seen.
We passed on the 9.50£ person to see the fort but did walk to see the bridge the Romans built. Some of the bridge still stands but the river has since moved.
Willowford is the area and the River Irthing once flowed beneath the bridge. The river is the border between Cumbria and Northumberland.
And here is the river.
We were lucky to find a bus at the fort that would take us to our train station in Haltwhistle and save us the 2 1/2 mile hike into Greenhead carrying our packs!
Train to Newcastle and on to Edinburgh. Found our Airbnb and did a walk about the neighbourhood. Looks good but still trying to figure out how to shut off a very noisy fan.
And something to eat at The Apartment Bistro.
Noisy fan☹️ Did you have earplugs. Never leave home without them!!!
