Guernsey

Up at 6am to catch the ferry to Guernsey. A pleasant trip with assigned seats and not a lot of opportunity to wander around.

Can you see Norm at the top right side? For a three plus hour trip it was pretty smooth sailing. They could learn a few things from BC Ferries. Getting off and on through one entrance was a bit slow.

Once here we hiked up the hill to our Airbnb. A lovely 1835 townhouse. We are on the top floor with other guests staying in other rooms.  Norm says we have the servant’s quarters. Watch your head!

From the front

And the beautiful back garden with very high walls.

Off to explore St. Peter Port. High street and the town church

A church was first recorded on this site in 1048. It sits right next to a tavern, one of the closest taverns to churches in the British Isles. Often today the churches are so poorly attended that they are turned into taverns.

It seemed like a good plan to explore the whole island by local bus and for only one £ off we went.

Local golf course

Interesting structure on the course. And many beautiful beaches but hades to take photos while moving. Once back in town we walked to the Castle Cornet and on to the lighthouse.

Seafood chowder, crab and avocado toast with a glass of Pinot Grigio for me and for Norm a lobster sandwich with a glass of Chablis at Coco. Perfect!

St. Pierre or Peter Port has stairways to connect the streets. They add a feeling of a movie setting....

Home to relax. Tomorrow is Liberation Day with lots happening! Stay tuned

  4. Norm wasn’t allowed outside, more rules than B.C. ferries. And potato peelers less visible here than one would expect.
Sam has us meeting her friend Liz for touring tomorrow. The excitement builds!
