Vipava to Kodreti

Some times one has to adjust to things beyond their control. Well the weather for the next week has been predicted to be between 90 to 100% rain every day! As hikers, we have to make a decision the night before what our plans are for the next day. We decided that it was not a good idea for us to hike in rain, too slippery and our coats were barely dry from yesterday, and chilly with the wind.
But first again an amazing breakfast!!

And

And a well cut apple and more

One of the fun things about travellig is meeting new people and sharing stories. This is one thing we really haven’t had the pleasure of doing. You’ll notice Norm  is all alone at the table. We have almost always been the only guests at the BnBs. It’s not yet the busy summer season yet. We saw no one on the trail yesterday. No one to ask if we are going the right way!
However Yellow Bunny did meet a new friend. Norm says it is a Slovenian Ice Maiden

View from our apartment in Vipava

Unfortunately too wet to enjoy
So… we took a taxi to our next spot, Kodreti. Which again started with Norm having schnapps at 10am

Our new accommodation

Our room

Now we have to fill in the day since we aren’t walking and this village has less than 100 people.
So a walk about ( in the light rain)

Local cemetery

Even found a wild poppy

It is a lovely countryside. Mountains, lots of green fields, and grape vines.

Dinner was very good, all locally-grown food. Salad with winter-dried salt beef strips.

Pasta stuffed with asparagus

And a strawberry parfait

The sun did shine for a few minutes but you can see the dark cloud just waiting to move in!

So tomorrow we have a new adventure… we are getting a ride to Trieste a day early and have more time to explore the city. And yes it is expected to rain there too.  Then Amsterdam on Sunday to catch up to Duncan, Lauraine and Odessa. Yay!
