Hard to believe we are in Czechia going hiking!
With a map, the instructions and gps we really had no trouble finding our way. We covered 15 km and more than 23,500 steps and had fun.
At one point we saw citrus fruit growing in a yard!
You have to love this road side photo of a bit of the Czechia history. Notice who are pulling the plow!
We enter more forests with excellent pathways. There was no one on the trails but us.
We had to follow the white and red flashes to keep us on track.
The further we hiked the more the terrain became so interesting. Valleys and then massive sandstones.
We were blown away with the sandstone. So many photos of the shapes and sizes. Some looking like monsters, or fish heads or boxers.
Or eyes looking at you
We took a little detour to Drabovna to see more stone.
Look who had to check it out! Carefully!
We were overwhelmed with the beauty and size and shapes.
Some looked like giant totems of rock watching over us.
It was getting close to lunch time and we came to the Frydstejn Castle. But first Norm wanted our photo in the mirror. Cool eh?
We paid our 50crowns and walked about. We were the first and only Canadians to put a pin in their world map!
Carved openings
Bedrooms??
Can you see Norm?
A view below
One last shot before moving on
The trail headed back into the woods, more rocky paths but still easy to walk with care.
A sign we had to look at twice and then read to know what it meant. Makes sense…..
Yellow Bunny agreed
Finally we made it to Mala Skala. Check this photo looking back where we came from
Can you see the two people at the top? There are handrails!
What fun. Might have to try that back home??
Burger and fries seemed the right choice. W

The trail led us through birch and balsam tree forests, some hills and great views.

The castle is a ruin from the Middle Ages (14th century). Unbelievable that it has been carved out of the stone and then built upon it.

One thing we noticed when passing houses that it is common to put cups on their fences.
What fun. Might have to try that back home??
Back at our hotel, showered and off to find a well deserved dinner.
