Hotel breakfast was fairly standard, no hot food but we had enough.
What our entrance to the hotel looks like and the chair on the right is called a Molecular Chair…and they aren’t stones.
One of these could be sent to you, they’re in the mail!
Now to hike to the castle. All castles are on hills! But first a market to check out.
Up we go
A little damp but the sun came out gloriously today. First is the bell tower for St. Guisto.
And when we peaked inside, there was a wedding happening! We were very quiet and quickly left.
A classic stained glass rose window too
Looking to the town
And looking at men fighting?
There were also Roman ruins, columns
Yellow Bunny snuck into one. Shhhhh
We took a quick peek in the Guisto castle and found two men who would ring the bell by hitting it each hour
King Norman….he almost fit the crown
Down through lovely gardens
And irises
Heading to the sea but always finding interesting things along the way like a retail outlet specializing in Canadian gear and outdoor wear.
Time for lunch and newspapers!!
A plaza of really classic cars - Alfa Romeo, Mercedes, Riley and even a Ford
Now to explore a different part of Trieste and a new gelato spot.
This time the gelato place was called Grosmi and it opened in 1958. I had Ferreta Rocher and Coconut. Norm has mango
The streets in most European towns have so much space for walking. It is such a pleasure to stroll without cars.
One more church, St. Anthony, about 250 years old.
And inside
Time for our last walk to the sea before getting ready to leave tomorrow for Amsterdam.
Check that sunshine!! And they said it would rain today.
We did a little shopping as we strolled the walkways. A few more things to squeeze into our backpacks. Good for us the Stazione Centrale where we’ll catch a train to the airport is just a 15-minute walk from our hotel. Next stop Sunday evening: Amsterdam.
