From the country to city

We are in Amsterdam! As we left Heerenveen on Thursday, the rain started to fall, nice to not be biking. Once in Amsterdam we found our garden cottage near Vondelpark. It is quite interesting, a bit like living on a boat, compact but functional.
We didn't realize it was a Murphy Bed but we had a good sleep.

Met Duncan at his office, Makerversity, a concept where lots of up and coming businesses share space, design equipment, ideas, etc. He really likes it and hopes to stay in Amsterdam.
Just behind this old Dutch warship in the harbour is Duncan's office space, the dark brick building that they share with the Dutch Navy.

Canal boats everywhere....

Norm and I did a walk about until we met up again with Duncan for dinner. Every few minutes another canal cruise boat goes by. This town is full of tourists, maybe too many.

Like most town in Holland, the buildings are magnificent, often on an angle but love the architecture.

Duncan's pick for dinner was, Boudewijk, French cuisine. Absolutely delicious and probably worth the price.

Today (Friday) was a good day for scarfs and toques, such a change from yesterday. But up early and spent over 2 hours at the Van Gogh Museum. The new museum showed Van Gogh's life through his art to his death, quite remarkable and tragic. No photos allowed so Yellow Bunny checked out some postcard scenes.

I just had to sneak this photo. At the museum you must check coats, backpacks, large purse, etc. Norm thought I was taking a picture of the flowers but if you look closely, you will see a man with his dog in a front snugly carrier! He went through the whole 3 floors carrying his dog! Didn't seem right....

Norm displaying a yellow house in the gift shop.

After a coffee we headed out to find the markets. First one Albert Cuyp where everyday you can find everything.

Especially frites with mayonnaise. So good.

We walked side streets, busy streets, parking lots full of bicycles till we got to the next market, Waterlooplein.

This market is a little less upscale and more of a flea market, just Yellow Bunny's kind.

By the time we got back to our cozy cottage in the garden, we had walked many kilometres, Time for a quiet night with our Albert Heijn dinner fixings.

Good night.
