Day Three of hiking - Eyeries to Ardgroom

The Forman's House in Eyeries was a pleasant stay. The dinner at the local bistro, delicious.
Looking out from the front of the BnB. The hosts for the BnB were Batty and Rosaria O'Neill! More O'Neills. He (Batty) was very helpful giving me information about the O'Neills in this area. Who knows, we could be related. My great grandfather James O'Neill was born in County Kerry just near by.

Fish and Chips for me and after walking all day, dessert!

 Brownies
First we waked through town to pick up some things. Like most of these villages, the houses are painted in bright colours. You can see in the background the mountain we hiked the previous day, Miskish Mountain.

Today we started with the coastal route, no low clouds and lots of sunshine.
A charity bike race was happening on the Beara peninsula today. 4,000 riders making a loop and raising 50,000 euros to good causes. We saw a number of the bicyclists as we headed out.

The view from the village of Eyeries looking to the coast.

  A magical coastline

Norman pointed to Miskish Mountain again.
 Happy hiker.

An old manor house we found along the trail.

Heather and I walking the trail looking for the yellow man.

We headed inland and across fields of grass, bogs and rocks.

We didn't see another hiker the whole day. The scenery is kind of barren but beautiful.

Stone ruins of an old house.
 From a different angle...artistic?
We came down hill to Ardgroom, our destination for the day.
Heather and Brad were ready to get to the Sea Villa our BnB for the night but Norm and I thought a drink was more important. They hitched a ride there and we headed to the pub. Ahhhhhhh, nothing like a cold cider at the end of day's walking.

Our host, John, came and picked us up. Dinner provided, soup and a seafood salad.
The walking/hiking has been really good, a few difficult parts (fog, rain, wind) but we have all enjoyed it. Yesterday much to my surprise my sock got shredded in my boot and by the time I got to take it off, I had developed quite the blister. What is a hike with out a blister or two? I bandaged it today and did quite well. Just thought a picture was in order. Yellow Bunny was impressed.

 Good night.
