Gaze out the window at lake and forest? No wonder meals are the highlight of our slow-moving days. I brought my knitting but not the right needles, not happy about that! If we had the internet we could connect with the world and even play Scrabble online. I’m learning “Mindfulness”?? Every train stop we hop off for 10 minutes or more for a brisk walk. Welcome to Sioux Lookout.
It was bit chilly or fresh as Norm calls it. Back on board we sit and read, read and read some more, which is good. I told our attendant that we need an exercise car, maybe a stationary bike or two, yoga mats..... Oh well. Probably not what most seniors on this train need or want.
Sometimes the train is going too fast for clarity. Traveling with Norm is always good for history. Did you know that in the past telegraph lines were used for communication but today they are obsolete? The poles have just been left behind, some upright others swallowed up by nature.
After lunch (hamburgers, tuna melt, raspberry coconut square) and a few hours of reading we decided to get our train hike in and walk to the last car - the bar! You’ll note this area isn’t for everyone.
Up in the dome car there are a few seats reserved for those not on Prestige after 4 (sleeper class) and Norm could enjoy a beer.
Nice spot, good views and mostly empty.
Front view and back view.
Yellow Bunny liked the yellow trees around Longlac.
Every time a freight train comes by we move aside and wait and wait.
Today we could see it up close.
Dinner with a New Zealand couple and didn’t talk politics but great conversation about chickens they call chooks. Roast chicken was our meal too.... with carrot cake for dessert.
Off to bed and you can see Norm in his cave”.
Those are stairs to my upper not a barricade.

The view in northern Ontario is trees, water and repeat!
