Hello Jasper

Started our day with an early morning breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast! Met a couple from Florida who had Diet Coke for breakfast and didn’t quite believe that climate change was “man” caused. We changed the conversation to less political topics after that. Again good food and service. Seems food is a big part of this train travel.
The scenery is getting better, lots of trees but some beautiful lakes and mountains.

If we aren’t watching the sites, we read... a lot.

More amazing scenery...

Next Jasper and a chance for an hour walk about in the fresh air.

As I mentioned the Via train has no wifi and the train cars are about 60 years old but upgraded. Check out the carts used to move luggage, garbage etc and they too must be half a century old but still working.

Onwards to Edmonton. More mountains and even an elk.

Lunch

The mountains get better and better as we cross towards Alberta and the prairies.

The Prestige group have paid more for their train ride. Today after 4 pm we were allowed into the bar car, the last car usually reserved for them.

The car rocked a bit, being the last of 21 in our train but we still managed not to spill a drop. Yellow Bunny enjoyed the ride.

We are in the second seating for dinner, 6:45.

The lamb chops were excellent. The dinner company .... interesting, an older couple from San Francisco. Conversations ranged from entomology to Gandhi. Always a new understanding of travel companions.
