Walking to Gibsons

Up early for a cool morning run from scouting out the route last night. I left at 7:30 and I saw this sign at least four times as I ran through the trails!

Note it says DO NOT RUN. I decided I would breathe really loud. I managed 4.5 km and got safely back home. Later that day on the same trails, Rozanne spotted a bear, backed up, grabbed a stick and told the bear to move along. It did!
After our breakfast we headed into town. Evelyn planned a route that had lots of forested trails to keep us cool.

Norm found more huckleberries and lots of the native blackberries.

The views were perfect looking out towards Gambier Island and maybe all the way to Vancouver?

Norm eating more huckleberries.
Once into town we (Norm) had coffee at Crazy Red’s, checked the GPAG- Gibsons Public Art Gallery, and of course Molly’s Reach.

One should always say hello to Mr. Gibson but it makes you wonder what the real Indigenous name should be. I did find out that this area was home to the Squamish people. Some stone artifacts date back upwards of 10,000 years.

Lunch was at the Black Bean Cafe. It was delicious!

I had Dave’s special turkey sandwich! And who knew it came with chips.

Time to walk back home (in the heat) up hill. But the views were lovely. Check this hill!

Then through the woods.

A little art work on the trails.
Finally home after covering 10.10 kms. Glad to take off our sweaty shoes and relax with an ice cold glass of water.
To finish our stay in Gibsons we took Evelyn and Rozanne to the Blackfish Pub for dinner. Prawn tacos for Norman and salmon burger for me.

Tomorrow Robert’s Creek for coffee and on to Powell River.
