Exploring Alfama and more

We got 10 hours of sleep last night and felt refreshed this morning ready for exploring. One thing about traveling with Val, if where we want to going is not where we end up, no problem, just enjoy it. And we did a lot of that today and saw some wonderful places.
First event , taking the No 28 tram to see the sights.

Well we got on the 28 and enjoyed a short ride only to be told the ride is finished?? Somewhat surprised, we got off and headed in a new direction.

Here is Val trying to decide now where.

There are so many statues and beautiful architecture that it isn’t hard to find places to see.

This is in Commerce Circle, a wonderful huge plaza and we found an Info centre. No we have an idea where we are going

We now have transit passes for all buses, trams, funicular and lifts! This is the metro where we got them.
Navegante - to navigate I think.

This is why you come to Lisbon! OMG these are delicious. Pastel de Nata. Custard in pastry. Getting more tomorrow.

Didn’t get up this today, the Lift. Maybe tomorrow?

So we walked and walked, over 22,000 steps and as we walked we found street vendors everywhere. This a tourist town!

And more

A park, Pargue Eduardo VII, at the end of one of the main avenue. Just green, relaxing .

As you can see we’re relaxing too.

Next the funicular, we have our passes! Fun!

Very steep

Hey at the top we found great views of the city.

Time for lunch.

Smoked salmon omelette and ham, cheese, pineapple
Crepe.

Outside street cafe…with cat pillow…

Outstanding street musicians.

Packed with young people for drinks and food,
The Time Out Market.  We didn’t stay….too senior.

Always looking for postcards, Yellow Bunny too

Val says we should see the suspension bridge like the Golden Gate. More walking…

You can sort of see it. Later tonight when up hill near our place and guess what! I could actually see the whole bridge!

We decided we should catch the number 28 back to our place. So we walked and we walked and we walked.

We made it!
To finish off our day we checked our neighbourhood.

Sunsetting on near by church and time for dinner

People waiting for the sun to set. Really interesting.
But we were hungry.

A margarita pizza hit the spot!

  1. Amazing photos. What a lovely city—all the walking up and down will be a good start for the Gee group hike
