Final day in Lisbon

This morning I looked out our window where the cruise ships were yesterday and amazingly there were two new ones today. Lisbon, like many cities, has too many tourists. We feel badly but here we are and will hope to help the local businesses as best we can.
As you have seen there are many stairs to climb here. Today as we packed our bags to leave and hull them up many stairs, Val finds an elevator, especially for those unable to do stairs!

Only took us 3 days!
Off to catch the tram to our new hotel to drop the bags. Tram 12e is it! The last time we took the tram 28, the famous one, it took us maybe 15 minutes and said, finished! And kicked us out! This time we got on the correct tram and went maybe 10 minutes and she said “finished”!

Now we have to walk about 20 minutes to the hotel and Val’s suitcase doesn’t like cobble stones!

She has to do lots of carrying but we see some nice scenery.

We are now settled in at the Dos Reis hotel. Here is where at 8am we meet our hiking group tomorrow.

Much classier than the Airbnb. I don’t think this counts as twin beds…

Oh well. Next Val suggests Pink Street.

It is pink but looks like activity is at night but we had a good walk to get here.

It is past time for Val’s coffee and with the help of google, we’ve found a perfect coffee shop

And a awesome salmon avocado bun

It was delicious. Next on our way to Casa do Alentijo, we found the Santa Justa Lift. Why not!

Medium line up and we have free tickets! The view from above.

Some interesting view

On to the Casa, a historical building showing the culture of the Alentijo people.

So many beautiful tiles.

I had hoped to see ruins of the Convento do Carlo, a roofless convent that had been destroyed in an earthquake of 1755.

We got there to find it closed on Sunday. They have wall around the pieces open to the sky hidden behind walls. This is what it might have looked like.

I did get to the entrance.
Heading back to our hotel we took a less busy route and surprised but what we saw

Often used as a symbol of Portugal
We had a wonderful surprise, a tram was situated right where we were to walk this very steep hill! Another free ride.

And at the top this what we saw???

Interesting …
Time for dinner

Quinoa salad and a mushroom pizza

Now to get ready for g-adventures. It will be nice to be a bit spoiled. Considering we have walked over 60,000 steps these last three days, we should be able to handle 10km.
