We hike so we can eat!

Breakfast at the resort, Casa das Penhas Douradas (google it) was beyond anything we’ve had so far. 

Meat and cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon…

Plus croissants, bread, pancakes….and then

You could order more! 

Time for a hike in the woods on the mountain top. Dress warmly.

Not a difficult hike but so nice to be in the woods and see lots of rocks. Left over from the ice age.

And the view was amazing 

We even saw traces of wild boar up here. They are a problem in Portugal as well as many other countries.

So many rocks and really beautiful.

This is a 12 year old bonsai 

Through the woods where many fallen trees are, due to unstable ground? 

Over and under trees. 

I kept taking photos of the giant rocks because it is hard to believe they won’t fall over.

Just a look at how the spa used items from the Burel factory. The items are natural and good a sound proofing and YB liked them

Next a 3+ hour drive to Amarante. In Portugal they have some trees brought from other countries, Australia- the Acacia and Eucalyptus. They are invasive and spread everywhere making the native ones harder to grow! But Broom is everywhere too and they say it is native!

Nearby church and then Bruna, our leader says before we go off she has to take it to bakery for a product related to romance?? Too funny..
