A wonderful day in Kauai

Had a great night's sleep and we were now ready for a day's adventure in Kauai. For breakfast we had fresh pineapple and papaya with our organic granola. No hurry when you are on a holiday so by 10:30 we made it to the beach for snorkelling. Of all the things I wanted to do on our holiday snorkelling was at the top of the list. Well today we did. It was wonderful. An easy to use beach, no big waves and plenty of fish. I saw Nemo, striped fish, yellow ones, polka dot ones and others with yellow, purple and green spots.
Yellow Bunny was getting ready for her snorkelling adventure.

You will note that I did wear a sun protection long sleeve shirt. The dermatologist would be pleased. Next a walk about the area so Norm could find a newspaper and coffee and Heather and I could experience a Puka Dog.
This Kauai treat is a solid white bun, shoved on a metal fat skewer which toasts the bun inside, adds a Polish sausage then injects the condiments. I had garlic lemon flavoured sauce, mango relish and sweet Hawaiian mustard. So nummy. And of course roosters roam freely everywhere.
There are all wild, skinny chickens all over the place, apparently from a big tropical storm that blew through in the 1990s. They're so skinny -- must be from all the scratching around. We tried out the rocker bus stop bench on the way.

Once back, we left Norm at home since he is fighting a cold and we headed off to a new beach. Met up with friends of Brad and Heather's, Wanda and Warren (from Saanch) to go to a new beach, Maha'ulepu. A lovely expanse of beach and almost no people. The road there was full of potholes and washouts. Good thing Warren had a jeep to get us there.
Brad and Warren went swimming while the women walked the beach.

We walked to one more beach before the gates were locked. You've got to love Kauai!

  2. Good to know that you are still connected. I can count on something to keep me occupied after I finish the T-C in the morning. Looks lovely -getting quite cold here.
