Yellow Bunny heads for Canada

Waking up early in a campsite is not unexpected, children running around or someone playing music. But at 6:30am Norm told me that someone was washing tarps. Not quite. Instead once I crawled out of the tent this is what I saw instead. The noise was jets of propane gas burning to lift a hot air balloon up into the cool morning air.
What a beautiful sight!
Off to breakfast in Winthrop and a final walkabout. It Is in Winthrop that the two rivers, Methow and Chewuch come together.

We packed up from the KOA camp site with one last photo op. Why not?

Our next stop was the famous town of Twisp. Not a lot going on there but a sweet town. One item that caught Norm's attention were the gabions, Itailan meaning big cage, a box filled with rocks. Even Leonardo da Vinci designed a type of gabion for the foundation of the San Marco Castle in Milan!
The free community library in a phone booth was really exciting too.
For a small town Twisp had a very attractive art gallery.
Of course we finished off our visit with the famous Cinnamon Twisp from Twisp.

As we headed towards Canada we noted how hot it was in the American Okanogan. We stopped in Tonasket to look at an antique store. Check the temperature!

Just incase you missed that.
Too hot for us seniors😚.
We are now in Penticton. Feels good to be back "home". Stopped at the Log House Motel only to realize that it has a pool! Yellow Bunny was excited and insisted she go swimming with Norm. It was a wonderful way to finish the day.

  1. Sounds like a pretty nice day. Luckily, Yellow Bunny's little paws didn't drop the phone into the pool.

  2. Levenworth, Winthrop, Twisp, Penticton... wow, you guys are getting around! Dave and I were in Penticton a week ago (good food at Wild Scallion on Front Street). After a few days of camping in the back country in Cathedral Park and Manning Park, we're at Cold Spring campsite along Hwy 3 for 2 nights. Manning Park Lodge has WiFi :)
