Vineyards and valleys

After an hour on the streetcar this morning we arrived in Hillsboro. Every trip needs at least one stop at McDonalds and Hillsboro was it. Now we were ready for a day of riding. We quickly got off the main highway after Forest Grove  and followed Springhill Road heading to McMinnville. What a perfect route, rolling hills, vineyards and valleys and less traffic.

Check the baby buffaloes.

The weather was made for biking, sunny, some clouds and a warm breeze. We love it! Norm says when taking a picture it is always best if there is something red in it. Well here are wheat fields, the blue sky and  the red barn.

Carlton, Oregon was where we stopped for a yummy lunch at the Horse Radish Cafe. Then only six more miles to McMinnville. After 58 km we arrived at Motel 6. We walked into the old town to visit the Oregon Hotel where we had visited a few years ago and had drinks on the roof. Here we are again on the roof.

The woman taking our picture was celebrating her graduation from Linwood College with a masters in special education. She had been "celebrating" for a few hours. We seem to meet the funniest women on our travels.

This is what we saw from the roof top. You can almost see the ocean. Tomorrow we will be in Lincoln City putting our toes in the water.

  1. Wow. Poverty Bend sounds like a road you don't want to follow. Bad news.
Love those blue skies. We are enjoying your blog. Between your's and Debby's, we have rich reading all day long.
    Travel safely.
