We've made it to Portland and are staying in the Hollywood neighbourhood. Caught the train in Mt. Vernon this morning after a 6 km bike ride to the train station. OMG the first moments on the bike seat felt like I was sitting on rocks instead of the bike seat. In time my bottom adjusted, thank goodness. The train ride was 6 hours and having 4 delightful wild and crazy, non stop talking women beside us helped pass the time. Note the paper around the second women's neck......it is the toilet seat cover and she referred to it as a Texan T-shirt. They laughed so loud and had such fun, it was hard to believe they were all heading to an evangelical conference in Rose Garden in Portland.
And of course they took our photo too.
Off the train and biked another 6 km to our motel, close to an historic route called Sullivan's Gulch. Only got a little lost but good old city maps on my iPad help find our way. We've checked out the Hollywood neighbourhood and found the important spots - Whole Foods, Starbucks, Antique City (old postcards found already) and a bike store. Norm feels right at home. Tomorrow downtown Portland beckons and probably Powell Books and I think a coffee or two.
no rain ? must have been a perfect day !xox
ReplyDeleteYou didn't mention the weather, so we figure it must be improving. The forecast us so-o-o good. Yeah!
ReplyDeleteWhere are *your* Texan T-shirts?!? No matter, it still look like you're having fun!
ReplyDeleteGotta get me one of those t-shirts.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun. Hope the seat gets better!
